The beauty of the gospel is that it is so mysterious and complex that scholars can spend a lifetime plumbing its depths, yet it is so simple that even a child can understand it.
A gospel message which omits an explanation of sin and brokenness is lacking. Why on earth would we need acceptance if we were without fault? A gospel message which omits a celebration of God's love is fruitless. Why would our sinfulness be the source of "good news" if there were not divine provision?
We have cause for lament. We have reason for great celebration.
For truly: "You are more sinful than you could ever dare imagine, and you are more loved and accepted than you could ever dare hope." -Tim Keller
